Caring Hands Pediatrics

North Office: 412-369-7720
Robinson Office: 412-921-2345

As you may be aware, we have started performing telemedicine visits to provide medical care to our patients, while minimizing potential exposure to infections, including COVID-19. Due to the pandemic, most insurance companies are currently waiving co-pays for these visits and are covering these visits, similar to visits in the office. However, coverage can vary depending on your insurance carrier, so please check with your insurance to find out whether virtual visits are covered. This coverage may change as the status of the COVID-19 pandemic changes. It is also important to realize that many medical conditions can be diagnosed through telemedicine visits; however, there are limitations with synchronous telecommunication.  It is not the same as a visit in person at the office. If we feel during the telemedicine visit that the situation warrants a face-to-face visit, we may request that you schedule an in-office visit. You may also request that we see your child in the office rather than continuing the telemedicine visit.  If you have any questions, please give us a call.

I have an appointment for a telemedicine visit. Now what do I do?

  • You can use a laptop or a smartphone with wifi and camera.
  • Select an area of the home with good lighting.
  • 5-10 minutes prior to the appointment,  set up your laptop or phone and be sure to allow access to your camera and microphone.
  • Please note that these visits are by appointment only and with a specific doctor or nurse practitioner. You will not be seen by telemedicine without an appointment. Click on the the button with name of the person your appointment is with.
  • Enter your child's name and click "check in."
  • If you have connected correctly, you will be set up in our virtual waiting room.
  • If the appointment is for ADHD, anxiety, or depression, please complete the surveys through our patient portal prior to the visit.
  • If you have a scale at home, please weigh your child prior to the visit.
  • For med checks, if you have a blood pressure cuff at home, please check your child's blood pressure and pulse prior to the visit.
  • Please call if you are having any difficulty.
